Morning vs Night Skincare – What’s Right for You?

Your skin has different needs in the morning and evening. In the morning, it is all about protecting your skin from those pesky UV rays and dirt, whereas in the night, it is all about removing the makeup, grime, and dust settled on your skin! Understanding your skin’s needs at different times of the day can help in keeping your skin smooth and glowing! Let us look at morning and night skincare routines to understand your skin better.

Morning skincare routine:

As you wake up in the morning, your skin wakes up too! It is time to prepare for the long day! For this purpose, you need to know about the morning skincare routine. Let us look at it step by step.

  1. Cleansing: Start your day with a double cleanse to get rid of excess dust and impurities. Simple items like pillows or bedsheets that you sleep on could harbor bacteria and dust. So, cleansing is the most important step.
  2. Toning: Toning helps to remove the residual impurities left after cleansing. Any residual dirt, makeup, or oil is removed completely after the toning process.
  3. Hydrating serum application: Apply hydrating serum after cleansing and toning to lock in moisture. Choose the right serum based on your skin type.
  4. Using Eye cream: Eye creams can prevent skin under your eyes from becoming too puffy. It has anti-aging benefits as well.
  5. Vitamin C serum: Vitamin C acts as an antioxidant to reduce skin inflammation and has anti-aging properties. You can use it in both morning and night routines.
  6. Coating skin with SPF moisturizer: SPF moisturizer can keep your skin hydrated whilst protecting it from harmful UV rays as well.

Nightcare skin routine:

Once you are done for the day, your skin is done too! It needs some time to relax. Hence, it is important to follow a basic night care routine. Let us look at the steps for the same.

  1. Cleansing: Double cleanse to remove dirt, grime, and makeup from the skin.
  2. Toning: Toning can aid in evening out your skin tone and remove additional dirt or impurities left on the skin.
  3. Applying Retinol serum: Retinol can aid in repairing and rejuvenating your skin. It can treat acne as well as skin pigmentation.
  4. Using Eye cream: Eye cream can help in maintaining your skin's hydration overnight. It prevents the formation of dark circles and aids in skin repair too.
  5. Gently rub night cream: Night cream can help with skin repair and reduce blemishes as well as black spots.
  6. Finish night routine with Vitamin C serum: Avoid applying Vitamin C serum at night if you are using Retinol cream in your night care routine. If you do not have retinol cream, you can use Vitamin C serum as a substitute for the same.

Remember that both morning and night skincare routines are important for your skin. A morning skincare routine can shield your skin from UV rays, dirt, and pollution, whereas a nightcare routine can rejuvenate your skin's health. Note that every skin is unique. Morning and night skin care routines can vary for different people based on their skin type. For more personalized advice, consult a skin care professional.
