Skincare for Teens During Summer
Hey teenies! Summers can be overwhelming with all the sweat, dirt, and acne breakouts, isn't it? Worry not, as we will help you figure out that skincare routine for your skin that can keep you energized and refreshed! Read on to know more.
What is the morning skincare routine for teens to follow?
Let us look at a proper skincare routine that can be appropriate for teens:
- Cleansing: Cleanse once in the morning and twice at night. This can aid in the removal of any leftover dirt, makeup, or oil residues. Avoid products with harsh ingredients, especially if you have sensitive or acne-prone skin.
- Exfoliation: Try exfoliating 2-3 times a week (take care to not over-exfoliate!). Exfoliation can aid in getting rid of dead skin cells and help in evening out the skin tone.
- Moisturizing: A moisturizer can help maintain the skin’s hydration levels. Use a light-weight gel-based moisturizer containing hyaluronic acid or aloe vera extract for moisturizing.
- Application of sunscreen: Sunscreen is the most essential part of the skincare AM routine. Use sunscreen with SPF of at least 30 on exposed parts of your face (close to the hairline, face, neck, ears, hands, and legs). Our Sunkissed hybrid sunscreen has SPF of 50, is water-resistant, and shields against both UVA and UVB rays.
What is the nighttime skincare routine for teens to follow?
Let us look at the nighttime skin care routine:
- Remove makeup: If you are wearing makeup, you can use micellar water or makeup remover to take it off.
- Cleansing: Use a cleanser to remove makeup residues and dust. Use a mild and gentle cleanser.
- Toning (optional): You can use an alcohol-free toner to balance out the skin’s pH levels.
- Moisturizing: Use a light-weight, non-comedogenic moisturizer, especially if you have sensitive or acne-prone skin.
What are some skincare tips for teens?
Some simple and effective skincare tips for teens are given below:
- Avoid touching your face constantly, especially if your skin has too much acne or pimples. Our hands contain bacteria that can further facilitate breakouts if we keep touching our skin.
- Change pillow covers regularly, especially if you are acne-prone.
- Make sure to keep yourself hydrated by drinking enough water (at least 8 glasses of water a day).
- Avoid consuming junk, sugary, or processed foods/beverages.
- Do not use thick foundations as they can tend to block the skin’s pores.
- Avoid hot showers and opt for cold showers instead. Hot showers can dry out your skin.
- Wear protective clothing to limit UV ray exposure. Use hats, umbrellas, scarves, long-sleeved shirts, and pants. Wear sunglasses to protect your eyes from the sun.
- Go for fragrance-free and oil-free products.
- Avoid using multiple skincare products as they can clog the skin’s pores and increase the risk of breakouts.
-
Focusing on getting proper sleep and reducing stress is also important for optimal skin health.
Summer can bring heat and humidity along with it. However, you can still maintain that glow and move along with confidence in summer by just going through the above steps! Stay consistent with your skincare routine and embrace the sunshine.
