The Best Skincare Routine for Office-Goers

Endless meetings, successive deadlines, and long commutes can end up taking a toll on the poor skin! Do not worry, though! With a few smart steps, you can achieve glowing and radiant skin in no time. Want to know how? Read on to know more!

How can office life affect your skin health?

Meetings and deadlines can often leave little to no time to take care of yourself. Exposure to the computer screen for too long can affect not only your eyes but the skin around your eyes as well. With small changes to your daily routine, you would be able to make your skin smooth and supple. Let's see how!

Morning skincare schedule:

Make sure to kick off your morning regimen with these basic steps: cleansing, toning, and moisturizing.

  • Cleansing: Cleansing should be done at least twice a day to maintain skin health. Make sure to wash your face and dab it gently with a cloth before gently applying the cleanser to the skin.
  • Toning: A proper toner would help in balancing out the skin tone. Apply toner gently using a cotton pad.
  • Moisturize: Apply moisturizer on wet skin or immediately after washing your face. Use thicker creams or ointments to help lock in hydration. Make sure to go for a moisturizer with an in-built SPF to protect skin from UV rays, as fluorescent lights from the office can emit UV rays.

Sun exposure: Sunscreen is a must!

Commuting to work can expose your skin to UV rays from the sun. Make sure to apply sunscreen irrespective of the weather. Sunscreen with at least SPF 30 is important. Reapply every 2 hours, especially if you sweat.

Pollution Defense: Vitamin C to the rescue!

Vitamin C acts as an antioxidant and helps to ward off inflammatory factors that can potentially accelerate the aging process. It also protects against the UV rays of the sun and helps in combating free radicals produced in our body due to pollution.

Mid-day touchups:

  • Apply lip balm: Lips can often become dry in an office setting. Lip balm can keep them moisturized.
  • Hand cream: Sifting through papers or documents can often make your hands dry. Apply a good hand cream routinely to keep your skin hydrated.
  • Hydrating mist: Often, air-conditioned rooms can make your skin go dry. A hydrating mist can rejuvenate dull, dry skin.

Night care routine:

  • Double cleansing: Make sure to go for cleansing first thing in the morning to remove residual makeup as well as dirt. It is better to go for a double cleanse.  The first cleanse can remove makeup, whereas the second one can help in removing residual dirt left from the first one.
  • Eye cream application: Apply eye cream to the area around your eyes. This is because the area under our eyes is more prone to becoming dull due to increased sun exposure. An eye cream can prevent the formation of dark circles and improve moisture around the eye area.
  • Keep electronics aside: Proper sleep is important for skin health. Make sure to keep electronic devices away atleast one hour before you go to bed.
